What’s the difference between compostable and biodegradable?Updated 2 years ago
The term biodegradable can be confusing as it’s used to describe a wide range of processes.
We’ve done the legwork, so you don’t have to do the guesswork. To be considered as biodegradable by us, an item must:
- Leave no toxic residues or traces of plastic behind.
- Be capable of being decomposed by bacteria or other living organisms and thereby avoiding pollution.
- Break down into organic matter anywhere microorganisms are present, including on land and in the water.
