What is the new climate contribution feature?

At checkout, you’ll now see an estimate of your order’s delivery emissions when order is being sent within Australia. Flora & Fauna makes a direct contribution to support on-the-ground climate and biodiversity work in Australia, and you have the option to add your own small contribution too.

How are delivery emissions estimated?

We use the GLEC Framework (Global Logistics Emissions Council), a widely used, transparent methodology. The estimate is based on:

  • The weight of the items in your cart

  • The distance from our Sydney warehouse to your address

  • The shipping method you choose (Express or Standard)

Road and rail freight generally produce lower emissions than air freight, so Express delivery usually has a higher footprint than Standard.

What project does my contribution support?

Your contribution supports the Sunnyside Permanent Planting Project in Western Australia.  This project:

  • Protects 560 hectares of eucalypt plantation, transitioning it into a permanent biodiverse forest

  • Forms part of the Gondwana Link corridor, a global biodiversity hotspot

  • Provides habitat for 300+ native plant species and endangered wildlife such as Gilbert’s Potoroo, Western Ground Parrot, Quokka, Malleefowl, Black-gloved Wallaby, Western Bristlebird and Carnaby’s Cockatoo

  • Involves meaningful Noongar participation in restoration and land stewardship

Is this the same as making my order carbon neutral?

No. This feature isn’t a “carbon neutral” or “offset” claim. Instead, it’s a practical way to fund climate and biodiversity action alongside our efforts to reduce emissions in our operations, packaging, and logistics.

How much is the contribution?

The amount varies depending on your order’s weight, distance, and shipping method. It’s typically a small cost compared to your order total. Flora & Fauna contributes the same amount directly, and you can choose to match it if you’d like.

Where is the Sunnyside Project located?

It’s near Wellstead in Western Australia’s Great Southern region, about 100 km north-east of Albany, within the Gondwana Link corridor.

Why did Flora & Fauna choose this project?

Sunnyside aligns with our values because it provides:

  • Biodiversity — supporting diverse native species and critical habitats, not monocultures

  • Permanence & protection — preventing land from being cleared or harvested

  • First Nations partnership — ongoing involvement in restoration and stewardship

Are the carbon credits independently verified?

Yes. Sunnyside generates Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs) under the federal scheme. These credits undergo independent audits, are publicly registered, and follow strict methodology oversight.
